作者简介

　　本教材是根据教育部高等学校外语专业教学指导委员会英语组制订的《英语教学大纲》（2000年4月修订）编写的英语专业阅读教材。全书共两册，20章，按题材分为：论阅读、大自然、人、个人与社会、文化、艺术、心理学、科学与技术、经济与经济学、历史、教育、语言、男人与女人、政治、环境保护、媒体、人物传记、宗教、论死亡。每章含4～5篇文章，既有论说文，又有短篇小说、戏剧和诗歌。本教材适合青年教师、研究生、英语专业高年级学生使用，将给使用者语言质量的提高、视野的开拓、思辨能力的增强以及综合素质的培养提供较大帮助。
