作者简介

本书具有以下特点：

一、本书在体系安排上作了新的尝试，突出了教育的相对独立性、教育自身发展的规律性和阶段性，而不是撕裂教育自身发展的历史关联，去屈从教育外部的历史事件，同时又注意了教育发展的历史大背景。

二、本书对历代学制的论述比较周详、完备、系统。且在前人基础上有所斟酌损益，对历史经验的总结匠心独具。

三、对教育思潮的论述，突破了以孤立的个人为中心的旧轨，本书注重上下衔接，纵横沟通，着力于剖解流派，考究源流，既溯其所自来，又辨其所当类，更明其所由去，读之颇觉脉络清晰，条理井然，褒贬有据，发人深省。

四、对各别教育家，作者摒弃了“一时代、二生平、三世界观、四教育作用、五教育目的……”的八股格式，而是区别对待。重点人物略述其生平，次要人物则开门见山，直陈其教育主张，不强行拼凑每个人物的世界观，不斤斤于在政治上给古人“定性”、定位。对于教育家的教育思想或主张，不是将内容硬性塞进现代教育学的框架，给古人披上时装，而是从实际出发，据史料立论，突出个性，从历史人物的原著中提取醒目的标题，避免了众人一貌。

五、本书对教育史实和历史人物的评鉴贯彻了历史唯物主义原理，有阶级分析而不妄贴阶级标签；重视经济、政治对教育的制约而不轻视教育的相对独立性和自身特点；不以政治上的是非和世界观的高下定教育观的臧否；是其所当是而非其所当非。
