This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the 9th International Workshop on Database Programming Languages, DBPL 2003, held in Potsdam, Germany in September 2003.     The 14 revised full papers presented together with an invited paper were carefully selected during two round of reviewing and revision from 22 submissions.
